To the editor:
When getting car repairs done, most people have probably asked themselves whether their mechanic is being honest with them about the needed repairs. We have been taking our vehicles to Ruark & Sons Automotive in Sunbury for the past several years, and I wanted to let you know that this local mechanic is simply the best We recently dropped our car off because there was a lot of noise and vibration in the tires. Having experienced this before in another vehicle, we were expecting issues with the tie rod (or whatever it's called) and anticipating a hefty fee in the neighborhood of $500 or $600.
Well, Alex Ruark just called and said we had a bunch of tar build-up in the tire treads and it would simply fall out over the course of a week or two. When it falls out the vibration and noise should stop. He said he could have rotated the tires to hide the sound and vibration, but the tires were where they needed to be. He said he could have balanced the tires and the noise would have been reduced, but when the tar eventually fell out then they would need to be balanced again. He could have told us we needed a new tie rod and we definitely would have paid him the $600 to fix it since we know nothing about cars. But this mechanic was honest and saved us a lot of money.
If you have a car that needs repairs, I strongly suggest going to Ruark & Sons in Sunbury.
